We only collect what you choose to tell us, plus a way to reach you. We never ask for your name.
We use it to understand what you're going through and connect you with the right help. That's it.
We never sell your data, never use it for ads, and never share it with a partner without asking you first.
Your data is stored in India, encrypted, and deleted automatically (voice notes after 180 days, everything else after 12 months), or sooner if you ask.
1. Who we are
GetPeace ("GetPeace", "we", "us") runs the website getpeace.in. GetPeace is a support and referral service: we listen to what's taking your peace away and help you find the right next step, such as a free resource or a verified professional. We are not a medical, mental health, legal or financial provider.
For the personal data you share with us, GetPeace is the "Data Fiduciary" under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act"). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
2. What we collect
What you tell us
Your problem, in your words: the text you write (up to 2,000 characters) and/or a voice note you record (up to 10 minutes).
The topic you picked, if any (for example "Debt & loans").
What you share may include sensitive details about your health, finances, relationships or habits. You decide what to include. Please only share what you're comfortable with, and avoid sharing other people's personal details unless it's necessary.
Emails you send us
If you email any @getpeace.in address, we receive your email address and name as shown by your email provider, the message, any attachments, and standard email information (such as the date and the technical checks that help us spot spam and spoofed senders).
How to reach you
Your mobile number (with country code), and/or your email address.
Records we create
A record of your consent and when you gave it, a reference number for your request, and the page you started from (for example, which topic tile you tapped).
Notes our team adds while helping you, such as when we contacted you and what we recommended.
Technical information
To stop spam and abuse, we keep a one-way scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address for a short time. It is deleted automatically, normally within 48 hours. We never store your raw IP address with your request.
Our hosting provider may keep standard security logs for a limited period.
We don't use advertising cookies or third-party trackers. The site only remembers your light/dark mode choice, and that stays in your own browser.
3. How we use it
To understand what you're going through and work out what kind of help fits.
To contact you by phone call, SMS, WhatsApp or email, using the details you gave us, about your request.
To follow up later (for example after a week and after a month) to ask whether things are getting better.
To keep you safe: if what you share suggests you're in immediate danger, we will share crisis resources with you and may try to reach you sooner.
To improve GetPeace, using only combined or de-identified information (for example, "how many requests were about debt this month").
To meet our legal obligations and prevent misuse of the service.
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or use it to make automated decisions about you.
When we contact you, our calls and messages won't mention your topic, so it stays private even if someone else sees your phone or inbox.
4. Why we're allowed to (your consent)
We process your personal data based on the consent you give when you tick the box before sending your request. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing yo@getpeace.in. If you do, we'll stop contacting you and delete your data, unless the law requires us to keep something. Withdrawing consent doesn't affect anything we did before you withdrew it.
In a genuine emergency involving a threat to your life or someone else's, the law may allow us to act without consent, for example to contact emergency services.
5. Who we share it with
Our care team: the small group of people at GetPeace who review requests and contact you. Access is password-protected and limited to those who need it.
Partners, only with your OK: if we recommend a professional or service (such as a counsellor or debt expert) and you want to go ahead, we'll ask before sharing anything with them, and share only what's needed. Partners are independent and have their own privacy policies.
Service providers who help us run GetPeace, such as cloud hosting (Amazon Web Services) and email/SMS delivery. They may only use your data to provide their service to us.
Authorities, only where the law requires it or to protect someone's life or safety.
6. Where it's stored and how it's protected
Your requests, voice notes, emails and contact details are stored on Amazon Web Services servers in Mumbai, India. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Voice notes are kept in private storage and can only be played by signed-in members of our team through short-lived links. We use access controls, separate admin logins, and automatic deletion to limit risk.
No system is perfectly secure. If a personal data breach happens, we will inform affected users and the Data Protection Board of India as the DPDP Act requires.
7. How long we keep it
Voice notes: deleted automatically 180 days after you send them.
Your request, contact details and our notes: deleted automatically 12 months after you send your request.
Emails you send us and our replies (including attachments): deleted automatically 24 months after they're sent or received.
Hashed IP data used for spam prevention: normally deleted within 48 hours.
We'll delete your data sooner if you ask, or once it's no longer needed, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.
8. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act, you have the right to:
Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we've used it.
Correct or update data that's inaccurate or incomplete.
Erase your data.
Withdraw consent at any time.
Raise a grievance with us, and if you're not satisfied with our response, complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf if you're unable to.
To use any of these rights, email us at yo@getpeace.in, or tell our team when they contact you. Mention your reference number (shown after you send your request) so we can find your request quickly.
9. Age limit
GetPeace is only for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn that a request came from someone under 18, we'll delete it and, where appropriate, point them to free support such as Tele-MANAS (14416).
In crisis? GetPeace is not an emergency service and may not respond immediately. If you're in danger or thinking of ending your life, call Tele-MANAS on 14416 (free, 24x7) or emergency services on 112.
10. Contact us and grievances
For questions about this policy, to use your rights, or to raise a grievance about how we've handled your personal data, email our Grievance Officer at yo@getpeace.in.
We'll acknowledge your message within 7 days and aim to resolve it as quickly as possible, within the time limits set by the DPDP Act and its rules. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as GetPeace grows. We'll post the new version here with a new effective date, and if the changes are significant we'll tell you before they affect data you've already shared.
